UMD's SWE Outreach
Mommy, Me & SWE:
The UMD Society of Women Engineers (SWE) hosts an event for girls in grades 1-3 and their moms or other female guardian or family member. This outreach event happens around November. This event provides young girls with an opportunity to learn about engineering through hands-on activities. Through the course of the event, the girls work on a project together with the SWE members while moms learn more about ways to encourage and grow their daughters interests in STEM through their later elementary and middle school years.
Spring Into Engineering (SPIE):
Spring Into Engineering!
Come to UMD for an afternoon of hands-on activities and
learn what it’s like to be an engineer! We will be learning
about what many different kinds of engineers can do by
putting our creativity and problem solving skills to the test.
March 2020, 12pm-4pm
3rd-6th grade
Registration for this event can be found at SCSE outreach.
Science Fair Judging:
SWE will be volunteering as judges at the North Eastern Regional Science Fair on Saturday, February 1, 2020
This is a great opportunity to get volunteer hours and it is so much fun to see all the cool science happening in middle/high schools in the area. We have been asked to volunteer as general judges for the fair as well as giving out four UMD SWE awards! Below are event details and here's the link to the sign-up spreadsheet.
